The rocker

The idea behind rocker is to allow the board to adapt to the wave faces. And of course, this has its share of advantages and disadvantages.

Having a strong rocker prevents nose dives (literally, nose-diving) in big waves. This makes it possible to catch waves later in the day. This curve also gives the board maneuverability, as it is more responsive to weight transfers.

Conversely, surfing steep waves with a flat board is very difficult. However, less rocker is an advantage in small waves, as it allows the boards to maintain their speed. This is especially true in summer when waves lose intensity and height.
